Welcome to the Toka Language. Before proceeding, please make sure you have the following downloaded and installed:

  • Toka 1.2

You can obtain this from the Toka Website.

The rest of this tutorial will be divided into small, bite-size lessons. Each will cover some aspect of the language or programming environment; and most will have at least one problem for you to solve. When you complete all of the lessons, you should have a good working knowledge of Toka.

Throughout the text you will encounter links to the Toka Dictionary Server, an online quick reference providing basic notes and stack comments for all of the core functionality in Toka. Should you forget what something does, this is a good place to check for answers.

Some of the lessons contain material adapted from the Forth Lessons for the OLPC Project.
